Thanks, someone on the forum also said the safety was suspect.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Forgot to add; the quotes on the left side looks to be a little canted. I will post a picture of a correct one to compare.

That safety looks funny to me too.

The sight bothers me - not enough wear on the exposed edges to match the wear on the receiver. You're looking at a definite put-together so offer accordingly.

Then first thing that stood out to my untrained eye was the crisp newness of the rear sight compared to receiver. I'd also like to see the nose of the stock and see what kind of band compression/shadow it has.

I believe rear sight to be a fake. It is also put in the wrong way.

Since the dovetail is tapered, it would have to be "forced" to be put on the wrong way.

Sorry I had a senior moment, my all-timers was kicking in big time. The sight is in correct, right to left, tapered to fit.
