AJP 8/53 backsight attachment. They give 9 clicks deflection each way.

Thanks I'm about to order the Mark 1 sight from someone here. I was using the Mark II (pressed sights). I'll try holding the hand forward like I do off a bench under the rest and see how it goes. IN the meantime I'm pretty happy with the results as the sights were down and I had the big battle sights on. The advice surely will help with the 500-600 yards area. I will look for a set of PH no.8/53. to put on my sights.

the shots had to be fired, holding the fore-end with the left hand firmly gripping around the fore-end with the back of the hand resting on or against a sandbag
Absolutely agreed Peter...

Bear in mind that fitting the 8/53 will certainly gain you windage adjustment, but at the cost of some elevation adjustment on the Mk 1 sight.
You might find that you need to change the height of your foresight blade when using the 8/53.

The reason that the 300 and 600 do not match is because when shooting at 300, the bayonet should be fixed.

I shall be out poo-picking (Is that term used in the US?) the rocking horse manure later today. It will be tough finding any though - just like 8/53s.
