Kr6ng,
Check the front left side of the nose near ajacent to the barrel channel. You may find an "S" and "A" there. I had one Springfield stock for several months - stripped it and BLO'ed it - before I found the SA that was there all the time.

Well, so far I havent been able to see the SA but the mark in the sling well is definitely an M, I will keep a looikout for sa as I get time . The carbine shot well with this stock so I will use it for the range
Thanks to everyone for the info.

That "M" stock seems to have a smooth curve to the belly and is not as dramatic. I kinda like it. But I really enjoy a potbelly that shoots well. Its all about the recoil shelf and the nose for me on those.
Charlie, do you have any idea how many different companies made M2 potbellies?

T-R,
Couldn't tell you.
There were many that came over from across the big pond.

That is because it is the second style "pot belly" stock.

Charley, exactly right , there is a flaming bomb , funny how I can see things when I know where to look .You folks are sure knowledgeable. I will save the stock for the range . Probably try to buy another carbine for a shooter, have to check what CMP has left , if any.
Thanks Russ
