Rumpelhardt, look on the Springfield Sporters website for the price of a used hinged LB front band (part 1G) - that makes the $250 I recently saw a LB milled rear sight sell for on evilbay look almost reasonable - yikes!

Rumpelhardt,
Go for it, as you know with your No4 the satisfaction of the restoration adds that little more. You will find the parts eventually and as bigduke said you will get such a stockpile of spares after a while.

You know I find the hunt for parts to be fun in itself.
I dragrace, build plastic models, hunt, shoot both firearms and archery..... I realy didn't need another hobie but this one combines the best of the others and can be quite relaxing.

Rumpel, you are lucky to be in the US, with Springfield Sporters selling Lee Enfield parts for a realy good price. I'm struggling ever since they stopped shipping to Canada!

I buy a few but look for Rare examples also buy standard ones for spares or for conversions, so it does pay in that case, but for the standard No4 or a SMLE you would be better buying for peanuts then keep hold until the bits come to light for next to nothing, rather than a frantic search and paying well over the odds, in your case with the option of springfield sporters for parts you may be able to get the bits cheap enough.
For what it's worth, the cheapest parts I find are on complete rifles, that are often somehow undesirable. Shot out barrel, cut down wood, warped forend etc. These rifles provide ALL the parts you're after for a receiver up rebuild, and often these rifles will "graft" well... I can't help myself bringing these unloved beasts home, and putting them back into shooting form.
