A very nice rifle overall. My take on the cheekpiece is it's definitely a repro. Made of beech I think or maybe birch? I've seen them from a few different suppliers in the UK and some are better than others as far as the original look Surpmil speaks of. All can be made good with lots of elbow grease. The ones that Numrich/GPC sell are Australian pattern for the HT and a different shape altogether. The fact that it's the exact same color as the wood is also a dead giveaway. Original British cheekpieces were stained and usually very dark. The wood also looks a bit glossy and recently finished. Possibly boiled linseed oil or BC Tru-oil?
