I stuck a M1
carbine flash suppressor on it as it is barrel light and that made it a lot more steady. Sort of silly to put a supressor on a .22 but it helps!

(M1 Garand/M14/M1A Rifles)
This weekend I worked on my 10/22. The sights arrived, so I drifted out the old front sight with a punch and drifted in the new one. What an odd application of a word: "drifting." I'm sure they use a mechanical punch to sqeeze the sites into the dovetail at the plant, but we "drift," as in support the barrel and wail away on a punch to move the sight out. In the process I smashed my thumb with the silly hammer, too.
Now that they are in, no kidding, the Tech Sites provide a MUCH better site picture - very much like an AR-15. Now why exactly do manufacturers put open rear leaf sites on rifles? It can't be all that much cheaper but there has to be a reason why they do it...
Now to zero the rifle.
