Lemme ask a dumb question:
Why would an M1C receiver need a CMP letter?

a slew of drilled & plugged M1C receivers have been sold by both DCM & CMP
over the years as "M1C" receivers, I'd really like Scott Duff or one of the guys to take a hard look @ this before I spent that kinda money for it.The money I would spend for a "restored/built M1C" would be considerably less than for one of the originals. The wording in his ad makes me uneasy. It's almost like it was worded by an attorney to say & not say the mount is an original G&H@ the same time.
Maybe I'm overcautious, but not with my money.

Way too few pictures and too sparse a description for a big ticket item.
The buttstock seems to be in question. I for one would like to know why the cheekpad is detached? Was it ever installed?

Jim

You are 100% correct. Pictures are of poor quality and too few of them, description leaves more questions than answers to a potential buyer. However the receiver is authentic.

Thanks everyone. I have not yet heard back from the seller on further pictures and information. Appreciate the comments and advice, I will steer clear for awhile. Just blew most of my money on a 1918a3 Ohio Ord. BAR anyway! Thanks again.

Charlie W. I just checked my private messages and see you emailed me. I tried to reply through Milsurps and my email comes back undeliverable. Send me your email address to my private messages as I have some questions for you

Stock looks like an issue. Receiver is real, base is an issue. I'll guess this is a CMP
receiver with parts-is-parts set up. Have you called CMP to see if it shows up on their sales data base? I would like to see it and hold it before plunking down a pile of money. Where is it located? Could you drive down for inspection? Good luck.

All.. super old thread but I now own the rifle in the OP.. rifle is an original M1C (verified by D McClain). The WW2 staking is original for the non -serialized bracket and mount is the aforementioned mount.
The stock cartouche is 100% real (Rick B
verified) and rifle appears to be original with staking as expected.
