Just a quick question 5th Batt..... what's the difference between No4 woodwork sets and N9 woodwork sets? Am I missing something?

They are being faked up as we speak so I understand. If you want the real McCoy, STUDY 5th BATTS PICTURE

The No4 & N9 woodwork was listed separately at the auction, I dont know if there is any difference between them.

Lowest s/n N9 was A6
Highest A2640

Tauranga, there's a nice place to live NZ Shooter. The fact is that even if there were up to 3,000 rifles, they are rare. There are some other comments on Pat Chadwicks thread too.

Maybe someone ought to pull the two threads together. Incidentally, Colin Wren the very Senior Naval Armaments person who setr me thinking about all this was an Armourer, man and boy and also supplied all of the Lanchester info from his apprentice days

A good idea Peter but since Patrick Chadwick is looking for advice as to which of the two rifles he should buy I’ll leave them separate so as not to diminish his replies. If no one objects I’ll merge them when his hasn’t received any replies for a few weeks.

Probably has nothing to do with N9 v No9

When I was a kid at school, they tried to get us to write 'Nr' as an abbreviation for number instead of 'No'

The difference between the No4 woodwork and the N9 is that the finger grooves in the rear handguards on the N9 are very shallow, thats all that I could see!
