"I have seen this opinion about Danish
Garands express on some US gun forums and I think its just an example of American chauvinism - the believe held by some (usually Americans) that if its not made in the USA
its not good enough."
I wholeheartedly agree and take advantage of that every chance I get, to the tune so far of five new to almost new VAR barrels! One pleased me in particular, the first one. Got an entire front-end; Barrel(TE-1,ME-1), front handguard(Winchester), narrow-base Gas-Cylinder, Front sight(PB), SA screw, Hardened nut for $125.00 "Cause it's ferrin, ain't SA!"
That barrel is on my Match-Rifle.

The only complaints I've heard about the Danish
returns was the replacement wood.I believe they were Beech?
People used to Walnut don't like the look of Beech, otherwise, reports of Quality were Good.

My CMP
Danish
(VAR barrel) return won two First Place overall plaques at the Ft. Knox JCG Memorial Matches at Scott Mountain KD Range. I am an average shooter, so even though I am not shooting to the potential of the rifle in question, she sure did not let me down.

I think you may be too diplomatic concerning the folk overheard at the range.
