    Cheers, Chris.
That would be a Bayonet No.8, made for the SLEM 1 - Self-Loading Enfield (or Experimental) Model No. 1 designed by Dieuedonne Saive of FN during WWII when he worked in exile at RSAF Enfield. Development models were built in 7.92 x 57mm, and after Saive returned to Belgiumicon after the war, it was further developed to become the FN49.
Allegedly 2400 bayonets were made at ROF Poole in 1946 and carry the Poole mark of P in a circle.
One sold on eBay in 2005 for 217GBP.

I have not posted for a while but I just got a No.4 mk1 on e-bay for 175.00 dollars. Now I am hoping it is not a fake. all the markings seem to be right. It should be here in a day of so. I go to a lot of gun shows here in eastern NC and could not find one at any price.

Are we talking the spike style bayonets here? I see them all the time in Western WA at the gunshows for a few dollars. I almost bought a cruciform spike for $25, but it did not have a scabbard. I have a ton of other ones that I bought for 5 for a $1 years ago. I heard they made good tent stakes. Most have the scabbard and a few the frogs, so I just put them in a box, and there they sit in the corner......

the crucirom spikes go for over 100 and the scabbard is the same as as th eMkII's so lacking a scabbard is easily sorted

What's with some of the scabbard mouthpieces being made of steel and others that cheap sintered mazakicon? Are the steel fully machined mouthpieces rare?

My Mk1 Cruciform has the alloy mouth piece but its marked Mk1 and has a serial number so perhaps the alloy version is the earlier.
