    I'm afraid that it isn't just the extractor grooves which differ.

    .280 and .280/30 have different base diameters, case and shoulder lengths.

    "Wheaty" started me on this particular road to ruin by selling me 4 cartridge varients of the series @10 years ago.

    Now I could probably put a year or two's mortgage payments on my house if I could find someone to purchase my 30ish varients at full pop retail $

    Unfortunately I've also started collecting "Pre-NATO" 7.62mm (I think the earliest dated case is '46) and trials 7.62mm from the mid-late 1950s also

    I'll have to check mine, I thought they only changed the extr. groove to match a .30-06 profile. I might be interested in some of your rounds. PM me if interested.

    Just measured 3 each of .280 and .280/30. All the case, neck, head, and shoulder measurements were the same. The .280/30s have a taller extractor groove and .20mm larger rim. The .270 experimental has more differences, not to mention the 6.25, a necked-down .280/30.
