A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Ah. Thanks for the responses guys--and the confusion has pushed me to the answer. I didn't ask the right question, or at least phrase it right. As Jmoore pointed out the other side of the housing would be necessary to depict a cloverleaf hole...and apparently that's not the hole I was looking at. I was looking at the round loop behind the triggerguard on, what I've now read, is a milled trigger guard. When I read about (without pics in that thread) a variation of the housing called 'cloverleaf' I figured that's what they were talking about--hey, it looks pretty much like a cloverleaf when combined with the hole in the safety, look at it objectively!!
