An ultrasonic cleaner does a nice job too. The cleaning action will penetrate everywhere the fluid does, blind recesses etc included, as long as surface tension or whatever it's called allows the fluid into the recesses. Good opportunity while it's apart to give it a gentle squeeze in your wee vise to tighten up the slide as they're often a bit sloppy.
