Look closely on the outside of the slide. SG put their marks out there and some other mfg's did too.

Your picture's not focused, but the inside of your slide looks more nicely machined than mine:

Your slide may not be original to your carbine. This puzzle came off an Inland

Thanks to each of you for making me dig a bit more and clean harder. There were added marks on the slide so posting pics below.
Also, found added mark on the barrel s with grenade by the piston area possibly original barrel that was not stamped as to date?
And I think the the mark on the sight is a bad crossed cannon stamp does the SA make it Springfield Arsenal?.
Does the RIA stand for Rock Island arsenal on front sight?
Found a o-2 stamped on bottom of bayonet lug.
Also posting a pic of sling well, and P stamped on pistol grip and cartouche AAB there were no other moarkings on stock or buttplate.
And a pic of 6 stamped on the receiver left side.
Hopefully the pics will answer both your and my questions as to each pieces origin. Your questions that make me dig and learn are making it fun. Thanks to each of you.

Yes, leave it as-is, because that's how it last served our country. In this way, while it can never be original again, it certainly is authentic.

Your slide may be the Type II/IV NPM variant descibed in Riesch with the N9 stamp. While the N is clear the 9 may only be partial. Half the fun of these things is cleaning them up and figuring out what you've got. The other half is shooting them. And yes, SA is Springfield Arsenal and RIA is Rock Island Arsenal.

I think the number on your left hand receiver side will be an STD lot, or production number. Kinda like this. Not sure, but will see what the guys say. Mike.

Inland44 and imarangemaster I intend to leave it as is. Your points are well taken. I think it is way cooler to have a carbine that was in active service enough to require rebuilding then one that never left the arsenal. The other part is I always wanted a carbine from each manufacturer but couldn't afford that so this is next best thing one with parts from every one damn near. Its fun to shoot my boys loved it before they left home.
Any thoughts from the group on the flaming bomb s stamped on the barrel piston area in the pic?
Also any thoughts on crossedcannons assesment of the slide pics or Mikey51 thoughts on the receiver markings in the pic?
Other then these looks like everything else I had questioned has been answered. Thanks to all for the help.

I discovered a slide pictorial on CMPicon carbine forum that allowed me to determine that my slide was a type II adding to possiblility crossedcanons is correct in his thoughts on it being that variant. Thoughts?

With little help from a member on the CMPicon forum I have found that my barrel may very well be original to the receiver. Apparently std pro. used the free barrel program and the stamping I displayed in the prior post pic is identified in Ruth to be of the type std pro. used. So looks like I have that answered.
Now all I need to find is a pic of an N9 type II varient of my slide to confirm Crossedcanons thoughts on it being a NPM. Any one have a pic of one I can compare?
I ordered both Ruth and Reisch's books from local library until I can aquire my own copies. Carbines are addicting. Started looking on CMP website to try to decide on which one to order next. Wife is gonna kill me but what the hell.
