Thanks smellie, it answers a question or two particularly the M 194. I could not imagine what that was. There is a roundel on the right side of the butt with CEF over a 16. Under that is B2961. The work CANADA has been defaced which makes me think the Chileans were not happy to have lost the first 3 years of their new battleships life. The Chileanserial is D. A. 188 which is also marked on the bolt. I have not been able to get a group like yours but considering th dark bore (fair to midding rifling) but a few shots with 800 grit followed by a few 1200 grit should at least brighten the bore. You indicated yours has the "E" on the barrel as does mine but do you see on the expended brass a scond "bottleneck" and is this a characteristic with the expanded rifles?
