    The rifle looks good. Butt does look a slightly different colour to the forward woodwork. Markings are typical of earlier 1943 (no sidewall T). It would originally have borne a S51 on the underside of the (original) butt. However, this is not the end of the world, & the fact that you have retrieved the front body pad to the rifle is much more important. It's a nice restoration project.
