    Smile Badger....

...thanks for your post. I have asked on other boards for them to give up this type of info , and everybody acts like it's a big secret . I now have a rough idea of the numbers involved. I have a number of sites I visit , and I don't like to " freeload" , but I've been unsure if a donation really helps or not. Knowing that if everyone donated a dollar a year the bills would be paid . I think this sort of thing will let more people feel that a ten or twenty dollar a year donation would do a lot to keep the lights on. I know now that a twenty dollar bill to the top four or five sites I like does help.
I think this should be somewhere that everybody would be directed to , along with a running update on donations vs. needs. I cannot believe anyone that uses a forum like this couldn't do a $10-20 a year if they spend any time here at all. I think I need to start setting some aside to do so.
    Thanks again , Chris

I would also like to see the forum upgraded. That said, there is a wealth of great information there. Besides, a lot of the members don't seem to post anywhere else. I have never had a bit of trouble with anyone at CMPicon, online or at the Stores. I've seen very little off-color stuff get posted, and when it happens, the thread gets deleted. I certainly hope they get back online ASAP!

CMPicon has always had problems with their server. It does not take much to shut it down. They have been bringing in a lot of revenue especially with the price increases. The forum (which doe not generate revenue) is outdated - even though it was upgraded. I think they got screwed on this one. The CMP staff is great - too bad their computer system is not up to par.

I'm sure Orest realizes that the forum does indeed generate a lot of revenue when it works. There are a lot of forum lurkers and participants that have been convinced that their dollars are well spent at CMP as a direct result of threads on the forum, and it makes no sense to assume otherwise just because forum use isn't a pay to play scheme.

Don't know if it applies to this discussion, but my experience is most people looking for a Hosting Server go one way....cheap. I know of several incidents with cheap hosting that have created problems after problems after problems.

What many do not realize is today you can spend a lot less than 10 years ago and get a great amount of download and storage. But it will cost a little more than the cheapies.

Hosting today is so cheap, it makes no sense to go with the lower end.

First I am a fan of the CMPicon. They have great customer service and I like their purpose in life.

Slamming them because the carbines are all sold out, as are the 03's and 1917s is over the top IMO. They plainly state the condition of the Krags are junk. No one should be deceived unless you choose to kid yourself. The Army is not the CMP and the CMP is not the Army. Sounds like you have a personal axe to grind. That's your prerogative, but sounds to me like the Army chose to give your carbine to the CMP, assuming your story is true. What maker S/N were you promised? Maybe you should assail the US Army for screwing you over.

All that being said the CMP forum performance is bad and getting worse. If they feel the need to have it in the first place then they should really deal with it since right now it is not working as it should. Performance issues are the norm not the rare exception, which is IMO as they should be - rare.

I would like to see them have a moderated forum. At last check, I noticed close to thirty different threads about the Korean rifles. And if they offer a new item for sale, like the AP ammo this summer, the forum gets choked with threads about: "my ammo was ww2, and so and so got non-corrosive-why didn't I?" Moderators could put similar threads into one pile.

CMPicon has always treated me fairly and courteously in all my purchases and the forum members have been nothing but informative and courteous as well. I hope their forums come back soon.

Paul1440 I do have a personal axe to grind and I will not get contrite about it. Yes the Army did screw me over and there isn't a damn thing that can be done about it. I'm retired Army and as you may well realize I'm in no position to kick them. For the most part I try to ignore posts about CMPicon, but there are times that I just don't resist the temptation to slam them again. I'll get that Garandicon or carbine but it will not be through them Now if you don't want to try to understand my side of it, then there is nothing I can do about it. I'm open to any suggestions you may have. I see that you're fellow Army When were you in? Besides any one with the name Paul cannot be all that bad. Regards Brother Paul M

They wholesale-whacked them a few days ago, leaving one. An interesting note was they even whacked those that Orest had posted in.
