True, about all you get out of it when it's done is the satisfaction of knowing that you done it. I've restored probaly 30 or 40 M1Carbines. I could probaly make a little money on a few of them, but only because I got a lot of parts in the 70s & 80s before they got so high. But before the imports started coming in after 1985, there were more parts than carbines. Most of the imports needed stocks and about all had mostly late parts on them. A few were in original, unrebuilt condition but most of them were well worn. With few nice parts on them. Bill

My Inland came from CMP all Inland upper (barrel, receiver, bolt assembly, slide) except type II rear sight, front sight, and barrel band. Those were replaced during upgrade. I left those alone because the government put them there, so they are correct for this weapon. It had a mixmaster trigger guard assembly when it came from CMP. I had a "correct for the serial number" range Inland complete trigger group from an import carbine. I put that on the CXMP Inland because I had it and it was correct, so why not. Would I have sought out correct parts if I didn't have it? No, because it will never be really correct. CMP basically mix-and matches upper groups and lowers further mix-mastering them.
