Can anyone help identify anything about this mauser model 98?

The Bolt Appears to be Spanish,
The Proof Mark on it is same as Proof on
Spanish 1943 Mauser 98s.

You seem to have a fixation with the bolt - 4 different photos of the same thing, also several other duplicates. Multiples of the same thing do not tell us anything and are of NO help answering your questions.
IF you would post photos of both sides & top of the rec and of the left side of the bbl there is some possibility that your questions can be answered.

What you have is a K98k rifle, based on what I see, I would guess it is a Yougoslav post war rebuild, But ----?

so would the correct name for this firearm based on the receiver be a "1939 Code 42 K98k (Mfg by Mauser Werke AG, Oberndorf a/N)" with a ton of random parts? or would this be considered a "Model 98" as I was told by the person I purchased it from?

I'm getting a little confused as to how to even call it now. haha.

Based on these stampings, does it make sense this firearm probably passed through israel at some point?

I would call your rifle a scrubbed 98k meaning most of the markings have been removed and the bolt is a total mismatch being a straight bolt. Like has been said a post war rebuild assembled from a conglomeration of parts. The barrel bands are stamped and welded, late war German production. The parts which are stamped with WaA 63 are probably Czech wartime production as this inspector number was assigned to Waffenwerke BRUNN around 1940 before that WaA63 was Oberndorf A/N, the main mauser works in Nazi Germany. There should be a series of numbers and letters on the barrel called the barrel code and Mauser experts(not me) can tell where and when the barrel was produced if it is German production.
Check the headspace and bang away, should be a decent shooter.

Where on the barrel might I find this? Will I have to disassemble it to view this part of the barrel?

Looks like your barrel code was scrubbed as well unless it is a Yugo rebarrel. The barrel code was usually stamped just ahead of the receiver ring at right angles to the barrel, sometimes partly below the wood.

Can anyone identify the type of sling I should be looking for to match this type of stock? I'd like to complete it with the proper type of sling.

Was it common to scrape the barrel code like this on the post-war rifles leaving Waffenwerke BRUNN?

I have never seen or heard of bbls being scrubbed except for the Beschutz being punched.
My guess is an unmarked post war rebbl job.

I got a great looking sling off ebay. Just do a search for K98 slings and several types will show up. You want to find one with a "keeper" that holds the sling in that groove in the stock. Seems price was right around $20 and quality was outstanding. Also lots cheaper than the real deal and you don't need to worry about hurting it. Some have period type markings some don't.

I'm not sure if I would be breaking a rule by posting the actual link to them or not so I'll Id the seller. It was precisionventures, price was $19.99, they are still listing them. i was very happy with it. Sling date was same year as my rifle. I know it's a repro but it's still nice to have the year match.
