I recently acquired this shotgun from a friend for the princely sum of Zero.
He knows how much I enjoy firearms and figured he would just give me the shotgun and see what I could do with it.
First off, I have no idea of the make or model and that is my first goal. I suspect it’s a no name drug store special. Other than a couple matching serial numbers on the upper and lower tang, there are ZERO internal or external markings.
Any help in identifying this old shotgun would be greatly appreciated.
The action breaks by placing the hammer in half cock and pushing down the side lever/trigger guard with your thumb.
The action is quite loose and there is a gap at the breach when the action is closed. I suspect that this worn catch would have to be welded up and re-fitted.
The furniture is very rough with two big chips around the upper tang.
Front and rear sites
Disassembly was pretty uneventful. No stuck screw despite me not using any oil. I guess that’s a good sign. There was quite a lot of crud inside the action though.
This stock will not be an easy fix but it will challenge me well beyond the ArgentineRolling Block.
This should keep me busy while I wait for .43 Spanish components to arrive for the RRB.
