Curved Nov 43 to Jan 45, flat Jan 45 to Sept 45 (per Duffs book). I have a -3 with modification on my SA 1942. It's the oldest OP Rod I have and it came on a CMP
service grade. Still the best rifle they sent me as far as history. The rod was probably issued with rifle. It came with a SA 51 barrel so this one may have been fixed up and sent to Korea. We just will never know?

Would the -3 curves be hard to find? If I tried to sell mine or trade it for a curved?
Which one of Duffs boks did you read that info in? I only have 2 of them, ,Jay

The red one The M1
Garand: World War II page190-192 , Charts show the info. Note in the chart that the -9s are the only one showing curved and flat. without research.. do I concur that any prior to -9 is curved as my -3 seems to be. I don't look for parts as I just get rifles at this time(M1 Garands).

Unmodified rev 9 curved side op-rods are not easy to find either. There seems to be more of the unmodified rev 9 flats around.
