How long is the barrel? It should be 18 1/2'' or there abouts from muzzle to receiver face on a carbine and 30 3/4'' on a rifle.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. There was also an intermediate length rifle made from full size rifles. Have seen but one or two in person. Roughly 24" bbl., IIRC.

Ratttletrap, The long rear sight is indicative of a rifle. Find some pictures of a real carbine and you will see the short ladder sight. Sorry but it looks like a cutdown rifle. Salt Flat

Yeah, I figured it was a cut down rifle. I was just kinda wondering on all those marks, which ones were Japaneseicon, which were Chinese. I read Japanese and there isn't much of that on this rifle. I figure it was a T38 at one time. The barrel is now 20-5/8" long from the end of the barrel to the receiver. It has a military "rounded" crown. Reused the front sight. The front barrel band can't be removed without removing the front sight. There remains a groove in the barrel for that barrel band.
