I think it's the fact that he's told an out and out lie that would sink him if it came to push and shove. That it's been in his possession for 30 years. That's expressed and implies the whole 'lot'

I asked him why it looks like a Mk.1 but is marked as a Mk.3. He replied: "I'm unable to answer that as I've never seen a mk1 before I've only ever had and seen the one that I have owned all these years." BTW, his name is Mike.

Someone has already bid on this item. How on eath do we stop that person being taken for a ride.

As PrinzEugen suggested, people should report the item to Ebay. Perhaps if Peter were to contact them, it might carry the most weight, with him being a noted and published expert.
I know I'd be completely gutted if I parted with that sort of money and found the item to be fake.

    Regards
    Mike (another one entirely)

This must be a unique Swedishicon made No32 bracket judging by that lovely stamp on the bracket. The fake rifle number, and black spray enamel show how much effort was put into this one. Even pads added for that "once stripped from a rifle" look.

And the simulated wear to the drum knurling and lens shades is really very well done.

“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

Much changes, much remains the same.

I just sent him a nice email, suggesting that maybe his seller credibility is taking a bit of a hit on various gun forums that might make him add some extra info to the listing.

I sent him an e-mail requesting a picture of the top of the tin to verify authenticity. Also asked why the scope comprised of so many different Mk parts.....no reply so far.

That's why we have the MKLicon ...

    For example....

Just compare the scope and tin being auctioned against an all correct example in the 130 picture photo montage contained in this entry ...

    1944 Enfield No.4 Mk1(T) Sniper Rifle
(Mfg by BSA Shirley - M47c)
    c/w matching Model No.32 Mk.3 Scope (Mfg by Taylor-Hobson & Co.)

.. or, the close up photo montage of this No.32 Mk1...

    1941 No.32 Mk1 Sniper Scope
(Mfg by William Watson & Sons for the No.4 Mk1(T) Enfield Sniper Rifle)

I had sneaky feeling this thread might spark a few e-mails for the seller when I started it!
I hope his computer is hotter than the surface of the sun.
A no32 scope is not an impulse buy, is it. Given their comparitive scarcity it follows that a prospective buyer would have a fair idea what they were looking for, now I have no problem with a guy turning a buck but just how stupid is this guy coz a fairly specialised item like this is going to attract a lot of scrutiny once the listing hits the wires on sites like this.
The seller could have just come clean and sold it as what it is, a Numrich special, and given the problems some enthusiasts have getting Numrich to ship overseas Im fairly sure he would have found a willing and happy buyer, now however his reputation and credibility will be irrepairably damaged, I for one will not in future trade with this dishonest faker (those markings must have taken a lot of time and care). I am lucky enough to own a genuine No32 Mk1 I bought from Lawrance Ordnance, It was pricey but at least I knew simon to be a reputable seller.
    REMEMBER ALWAYS......... CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just checked to see if any other unsuspecting potential buyers have been duped into bidding but the offending article has been removed from sale

The seller has contacted me and is quiet disturbed by my slanderous comments and the behaviour of us so called "experts". I have kept the email for the record, I have identified myself to him and am quiet happy to defend any offensive comments that i may have made.
