    It probably originally had a mk2 sight on it. That's probably why it was changed. The Mk1 is a nicer sight.

    It looks like a nice rifle with mostly genuine Savage parts. The Mk 1 backsight is definitely not original: it was made at ROF Fazackerly (Liverpool, Englandicon). Also the magazine, though numbered up, doesn't look like the normal Savage type which has a distinctive base. The mushroom headed Mk 1 cocking piece is nice, and appropriate for an early Savage but I suspect would have been replaced by the flat sided Mk 2 type by 35C serial numbers. It would be a good idea just to check that the locking lugs on the bolt are in proper contact with the resistance shoulders on both sides of the action body.
