    Nice old Terni 1916.

    Definitely a gain-twist barrel.

Good part is that there are lots of really decent 140 and 120-grain slugs available now. These are what I would start with for handloading. That 32-inch original tube could handle anything for powder, even though the Italianicon factory stuff was pretty fast. If this were my rifle, I would try 4198 with a 120; I'm shooting Remington 140s with 4198 in my Model 41 and it shoots beautifully.

Carcanos are really nice rifles and very much underappreciated IMHO.

You have sure done a nice job on this one!

Thank you. Right now it's my favorite milsurp. I took it to the range last weekend, but my timing was bad---it was getting dark by the time I got to shooting it. It did seem to shoot well with some unknown hand loads that had 140 grain, .264" bullets.

I ordered up some 140 grain spitzer .268" bullets and some brass from Buffalo arms. I have some (a lot) of IMR4895 I'll try some loads with. I'll let you all know how it works out.
