    The IP marked stock is I cut. Here is the sling well;

    and here are some of the markings on the new one;

    You can see the markings on the old stock a little better in this shot. It does look like a side ways S'G'

    I have decided to keep the new one, because the Bavarian and Austrian marks give it some more character, but with the old stock, since while faint I think the marks are honest.

    I'm a little late on this, but I checked the sling swivel on my 1829xxx S'G' and it looks like the one Mikey 51 posted on the 1st page. - Bob

    I brought the old carbine, now with the new stock to the Allentown gun show on Sunday and ended up trading it with a dealer for a nice Colt Government model. So I can't take any more pictures of it.

    That's too bad as the new IP stock by itself if original would have been worth more then a Colt Government Model.

    Well, it was a very expensive Government Model. Also my impression, and other feedback I received, was that while the IP was real, the ordnance stamp was fake and that would have detracted from its value. But it would not be the first bad decision I have made and is almost made up for by the times I got lucky. Such is life.

    If I were a betting man, I'd say you made a good decision. Enjoy your 1911. The greatest pistol every made IMHO.

    The last original IP I cut high wood stock I saw about five years ago went for almost $2000 then and I can only guess at what it would go for today.

    I do not disagree. If original, it would have been mega bucks. But a few problems with this one.

    1. Note the slingwell markings. Look closely at how the rounded portion of the R and P are squared. Originals were not like this.

    2. Having been a CMPicon carbine they sell most if not all of their IP's at auction. I can guaruntee you if this one had been real, it would have sold at auction for a much higher price. It may have sold at auction anyway and someone sold for a reduced price with aftermarket items added. There is no question the flip sight is fake.

    3. There are fake IP I-cut stocks out there. One was recently sold on GB by Sam-T-Bob. A full length photo would have been nice as you can easily tell by the stock profile. The fit of the OP's around the trigger housing/receiver area did not look correct.
