    Regardless of the replacement wood, your barrelled action is good enough. Incidentally the fourth photo in your second lot shows the barrel indexing marks on the receiver & back of the barrel quite clearly. If the barrel had been replaced it is possible but unlikely anyone would have gone to the trouble of putting an index mark on the new barrel

    If any 4T collectors are not familiar with the indexing marks then have a good look at Bigedac's photo's.

    Roger - or anyone else - is the T on the barrel in pic 4 of the top set pertaining to it being a 4T, or is it just a general marking?

    Yep, or at least I've always presumed so. It's on un-messed-about-with H&H converted rifles, & conversely where rifles have definitely been rebarrelled, I have not seen it.
