Wednesday I was talking to a guy at my LGS. He was picking his AO up. Less then 200 rounds and the gas piston cracked.

They are $699 all this week at Big 5 Sports if anyone wants to take a chance on a new one. Most Universals, Federal Ords, and National Ords I've seen lately have been above $400 - so I think that's a pretty good deal. - Bob

When I talked to Auto Ord customer service one of the conversations, they said they were having terrible quality control problems with their subcontractors. Green Mountain made the barrels for them, and they are goo barrels, but I think the gas piston housing is cast, instead of forged like USGI. Their QC problems and reputation were so bad for awhile that wholesalers had all kinds of sales going on them. Out of three I handled personally, all three were defective. One was a cross threaded piston nut.

Big 5 Sports has a coupon for 10% off the sale price on guns Monday and Tuesday. I don't know if this link will work, but you might be able to get that price on a CAI "import" M1icon Carbine as well. It should take it down to just under $630. - Bob

I just looked at some carbines at big 5 again in the last two weeks. Mixmasters, but decent, sound, original post war examples of the M1icon Carbine.
