    Inland barrel question

I talked to a guy at a gunshow yesterday about an Inland that had belonged to his grandfather. The story is that the grandfather had been a paratrooper in WWII and his carbine was a 5.5 Inland and originally had a paratrooper stock. He was asking about value and looking for a repro paratrooper stock for this carbine. He knew that a bayonet band had been added and the stock had been changed. He is positive that the barrel is marked Inland and it has a 1948 date stamp. Is this possible? I asked if it might be '43 instead, but he was positive it's marked '48. He might give me a call and have me look at it in person. What do you guys think? Thanks - Bob
