Has anyone tried contacting the seller and asking? Might be interesting if he responds before the auction ends or even at all.

IIRC, there was a lot of sour grapes and heated discussion in the original posting on CMP
. After that was deleted, it was resurrected in another thread. Now I can't find that thread. I just found a third thread on CMP. It just won't go away.

Ii am a expert on getting screwed by the fixer uppers . It's part of the education process of learning about these little gems. When a seller knows its rare its buyer beware. Lots of guns in collections today and even in some of the collector books feature body filler and remarking and repro parts and refinishing. Some buyers are happy with, some are even happy to display in their books. As long as you are happy it does not matter. Never pay more than parts value and you will be fine. Ask for lots of pics. And educate yourself as when you bid you will own unless otherwise stated. You will learn why some say happy collecting. Sometimes we will not be.

Still trying to figure out the bid history?
Winner was lead bidder, and kept on bidding away?
I can see a 'Pad' bid or two.
But how/why did the total keep climbing so high, like he was bidding vs himself.
Nevery mind, I get it, He (Winner) must have been bidding until he reached the Reserve.
After all this........... I didn't want to throw up the link to the offering by S-T-B S'G' Seen the CRUSHED S'G' Stamp on that and LMAO, then realised someone is buying ;-(

Also, it will automatically place a bid for him until his max bid is reached. So if he bid $3000.00 and the next highest bidder was $2000.00 each time the next bidder bumped a bid up the high bidder's would automatically continue to bid more until he either won or was outbid.

Maybe tatsueb A+(1) put in a bid for $2799 but at that time he only needed to best $2099. So it showed his needed bid to be $2100. Then AG1213 A+(12) bid up in smaller amounts until he became top bidder at $2800.
And or it could have been shill bidding. People need to not get caught up in the hype of an auction. Bid what you think is fair and can afford. If it goes past that, wait for another to come along. There is always another, maybe not right away, but sooner or later.
