I just checked the book and there were five toolroom models ordered, this is #1. Ruth has a double pic, it shows the first day it existed and today. Same gun, and what a neat time paradox. Wear and tear of testing and minor changes effected...

Its Inland. Look at the logo stamped by the serial number.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

I just thought it was interesting that the case containing the M1icon carbine prototypes also included one of only two known Johnson Auto-Carbines. Not something you see every day.

When I was in my teens

You could buy a Johnson shipped in the US Mail for about $65? You couldn't find a Garandicon with a Geiger counter. My friend had a Johnson, a fascinating weapon. The coolest magazine set up, you could top it off with individual rounds, but that barrel was just hanging out there ready to be bent. Wow! All those prototypes in one place.

Notice a 'T' stamped almost on top of the '1', for 'Tool Room'. Look at the strange shape of the recoil plate! No, that is not a production piece.

Hi, Regarding the Springfield Armory Museum. If you ever have the chance to get there, be aware there are two floors. The first is open free of charge and has great displays. The second floor has is a fee, but you have to make prior reservations to go on the tour of an astounding collection of many type of firearms. Well worth the price of admission. John

I went there in May 2011. We weren't charged to go to the second floor, that must be new. It's a historical place, some pretty cool stuff there.
