In process of restoring a SC 'A3 w/ a Rem 2/44 barrel and new CMPicon stock.
Original barrel was shot out to .303 dia., and stock looked like it'd been over a fire roosting marsh mellows w/ it.
Must have been a VFW or other org that shot blanks and didn't clean it, the worst I've ever seen in a USGI Milsurps...
Will post pictures once it's had it's make over.

I had purchased a SM that the barrel was shot out and the stock appeared to have a branding iron applied all over it.
When I bought it he threw in a brand new '44 RA barrel and so I had a friend replace the barrel and ordered a replacement C stock from CMPicon.
Brought an old war horse back into service.

The picture from the manual is correct. Your sling is not slung that way. Note on the rifle side of the sling by the boot , the sewn tail is inside , towards the rifle , not between the loop . The adjuster is spun 180 degrees so that pulling on the end will raise the lockbar.

Almost. Tongue is still in center of rear loop , should be next to rifle. I know ...I'm being anal .
