Forgive me if I am missing something here but what is the point in producing a copy marked as the original just for aesthetic reasons the owner would still know it was not "right" and someone further down the line will eventually end up with an "all matching" set up that isn't.
There is so much remarking going on on both repro and genuine items it is becoming very difficult for the ordinary collector to know what they are buying. As far as I am concerened any item that carries "false" markings should also be marked "repro" but that of course will never happen all the time big money can be made especially in the "sniper" field.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. In the words of Muffer regarding another post, "this sort of caper is for those with far too much time on their hands"
