Do you have pictures of the Model 1905 in question? The original Model 1905 is quiet interesting but shorter than a M1897 Cadet Rifle and a different sight simila to the Model 1893 Swissicon Mannlicher. The 99% of them where converted in K1911 rifles.

No, I didn't take pictures. I compared it to the photos in my Swissicon Rifle book. It was a carbine.

    1905 Carbine

Please do not tell me it was at a Forks of the Delaware show in Allentown, PA. I missed the last one.

If truly a 1905, it was beyond a steal at $800. That and the 1900 Short rifle are the only pieces missing from my Swissicon Rifle (Schmidt-Rubin branch) collection. Swiss collectors I have dealt with in the US and CH tell me it is a 5 figure rifle which is confirmed by Stefan. I have never seen on in the flesh.

I do believe here in the US you could find it cheap IF the person did not know what it was. I once saw a sporterized G1911, which when I pulled the bolt was a 1908 action. I did not know about those at the time and passed since it was altered. When I found out about the 1908, I went to every show in the region looking for the dealer and rifle, but no luck.

I have seen a "repro" 1900 Short Rifle, so a serial number chart is always in my show bag.

There is a series of books under the title or subtitle of "For Collectors Only". They are roughly 5x9 paperbacks and in general are pretty good inexpensive references to the rifles in question. The Swissicon book is called "Swiss Magazine Loading Rifles 1869-1958"
