Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
I just got in the mail today, "BritishEnfield Rifles
, Vol. 2, Lee-Enfield No. 4 and No. 5 Rifles" by Charles B. Stratton. It was $15.00 at Amazon. It's a start.
"He which hath no stomach to this fight,/ Let him depart." Henry V
I know it's not a book, the the Wikipedia article on the Lee-Enfield is a pretty good general overview of the subject too - certainly enough for the average new Lee-Enfield owner to perform a basic "What sort of rifle is this and where was it made?" as well as getting some background, without needing to spend hundreds of dollars on (admittedly excellent, in Skennerton's case) reference books.
"Volunteers, one pace, forward...march!"![]()
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.
