When you read the information in War Baby or any other book you have to realize what is being said. The flip safety was finally approved for use in 1944 but it took a long time for it to finally get into production and that was later in 1945. One has to read all of the information and not just parts of it.

Frank, You've probably got the 2nd printing of WarBaby! One thing I've learned about that book is to always look at the "Errata Sheet" which is about 2-3 pages in from the front cover. This will show corrections that apply to several errors in the book. I looked there first for the answer to your question about the flip safety - and didn't see anything. Then, I checked in WarBabyIII which has all the corrections known (at the time of printing) for both of the first two books. On page 1144, I found the correction for your reference to the safeties on page 352 of WarBaby! Basically, it says to cross out the the words "mid 1944" and replace them with "mid 1945" until the end of production. Hope that helps. - Bob

Bob, its on page 352 of the War Baby Volume 1...... So i went to JustAnswer dot com and bought 7 question of anything to ask and i went to the Gun and Rifles of WW2 and ask it as my first question and it said they replaced to flip safety. They were already been makimg them and when the push ran real low they switch and should have EI or HI.., but mostly on M2's, but i know y'all know more thats why i bought 4 books and read most of the day cause im moving on to another. A friend of mine is selling one at the Pistol and Rifle Club, he wants to buy another type of rifle and ask me if i was interested. Now when we go meet i can take tools to open it and look around before i buy, but this guy is like y'all he knows alot about M1icon and alot more other rifles like Jim. Ive ask him to join and he said he will. Thanks

    Frank
