The 55 grain FMJ has a poor reputation for defeating light barriers. I sincerely doubt you are going to carry two different bullet weights into combat. (I'm a son of an old Navy Rifle Team/Underwater Demolition Team member) that fought in both WW2 and Korea. I learned at his knee. I'm also an old Vietnam era Navy Veteran.
The 55 grain 5.56 x 45 has a bad reputation when it comes to passing through anything heavier than Gypsum board walls. When heavy, thick barriers are encountered, a heavier bullet is required. The 5.56 x 45's limitations are well known. I don't want to "spray and pray" hoping that my battle rifle will be effective.Information
