A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. The Model 1909 had the same high polish charcoal blue finish of the commercial New Service revolvers. This one was shipped to Manila in the Philippines on November 24, 1909.

Jughead, I have a Rock Island Arsenal marked holster that is dated 1910 and is initialed H.E.K. also. It also has the US in an oval on the front and a flap. The brass ring is all nice and intact as well. It is just like the center one in your previous post. It is in Very good to Fine condition. I am thinking about selling it but do not have a clue as to what I should ask for it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Life can be confusing at times. The Model 1909 was mentioned as being the result of a redesign of the Model 1892 series, when actually it is a variation of another existing model, the large frame New Service.

The information given at the site provided was for the 1909's shipped to the Army. The USMC purchased 1300 Model 1909 pistols in one order and another 85 on a later order. The Navy purchased 1000 of the Model 1909, and there was an order for 15 Model 1909 pistols that are more or less a mystery as to where they actually went.
