A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. USGI (Bob) I would be interested in knowing a good source for this as well. In the end it's just personal curiosity on my part as both the SW and U marked mags have worked flawlessly. They snap in tight, pop right out when the button is pushed and have had no feed issues so I have no complaints just trying to take in all the info. Thanks again to all, this thread has helped me out a lot.

Paul, I have a couple of the Single U's and they work remarkable Korean, I'm guessing. I bought these from a Commercial Vendor at a GunShow. These double UU from Union Hardwre are USGI and work just the same. Look at the difference between the 2 mags markings. PM or Email me if there is a Mag you might want for your Carbine. If I have them I can send a couple to you on the house.

Nice frank, did not think to add UU. The middle one is Korean U the two on sides are either spares or post war. to the eye they are close in color, but the Korean darker/blacker. Not the typical USGI blue. The SW or the U (non Korean) are USGI and will function fine. If you are going for WWII then I would look for one that was delivered by/to the contractor that made your carbine.

note to mod, first time posting pics here. do not know why not working correct

The deep U is no doubt a new repro...quite obvious, but the first I've seen.

Thanks all, that website is amazing Frank! Just what I needed. I need to pick something and stick with it. My father, who has passed away, was into Thompson submachine guns which are generally too rich for my blood. So I have bought Garands, Mausers, Mosins, Enfields, SKS, AKs ARs, on and on but I have really enjoyed the M1icon carbine. Mine is just a 1943 Inland post arsenal rebuild but it has been a joy to shoot and fun to learn about. It's a tough time to start collecting M1 carbines as the prices are going up. You almost cannot see the import mark on mine just barely visible but the fact it was there made this M1 affordable to me. Again thanks so much to all for the info! I have attached what I hop is a clearer photo of the "U" mark on the mag in question
