I know how you feel Bear. My wife and I felt the same when our son enlisted 10 years ago. He is also a second generation airborne soldier and he is on his 5th combat tour. Please give your son our "thank you" for his service and I thank you and your father for your service. Be assured that he is in our prayers. Our best to you and your wife.

Bear,
My picture was taken at Tiger Land, Ft. Polk, LA, in 1968. I like your Pathfinder avitar, Blackhat!

My thanks for the continued kind comments, your well wishes shall surely be passed on to my son.
Ric,
Ft. Puke ... whata bummer. My brother-in-law was a D.I. down there and he said that the only thing worse than being a drill sergeant at Ft. Polk was being a trainee.
By the way, how'd you know I was a Blackhat...have we met before? If we have... "Beat your boots, Airborne". (grin)

Thank you.
In truth, he is a fourth generation soldier. His great grandad was an Irishman from County Waterford serving in His Majesty's Forces for over 30 years. He served in India, fought the boche at the Somme and tried to keep the peace in Ireland during the Irish Civil War in the 20's. Ended up with an IRA bullet in his lung which he carried till his death in the 50s. He also served in "Dad's Army" during WW2 and he retired as an RSM.
