I know how you feel Bear. My wife and I felt the same when our son enlisted 10 years ago. He is also a second generation airborne soldier and he is on his 5th combat tour. Please give your son our "thank you" for his service and I thank you and your father for your service. Be assured that he is in our prayers. Our best to you and your wife.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Bear,

My picture was taken at Tiger Land, Ft. Polk, LA, in 1968. I like your Pathfinder avitar, Blackhat!

My thanks for the continued kind comments, your well wishes shall surely be passed on to my son.

    Ric,
Ft. Puke ... whata bummer. My brother-in-law was a D.I. down there and he said that the only thing worse than being a drill sergeant at Ft. Polk was being a trainee.
By the way, how'd you know I was a Blackhat...have we met before? If we have... "Beat your boots, Airborne". (grin)

    Thank you.
In truth, he is a fourth generation soldier. His great grandad was an Irishman from County Waterford serving in His Majesty's Forces for over 30 years. He served in India, fought the boche at the Somme and tried to keep the peace in Ireland during the Irish Civil War in the 20's. Ended up with an IRA bullet in his lung which he carried till his death in the 50s. He also served in "Dad's Army" during WW2 and he retired as an RSM.
