    I'd guess it's a Danishicon issue rifle. Possibly purchased from the CMPicon in years past. Check the small parts as there may be Italianicon PB, and BMB marked parts mixed in. It could also have an excellent Danish replacement barrel installed. Nice rifle.

    If it a Danishicon M1icon, it should have a label in the stock channel like this.

    Naw, no label in the stock channel, but is it really clean and tight, no marring or scratches like some of my older M1's.

    I agree with Brian if it's the full serial number then it's Danishicon and not all had the tags as shown.

    He meant the barrel stamp, the one that shows it was made in '49. Not a VAR marking.

    I think he did mean VAR to signify a Danishicon-made replacement barrel Attachment 74955
