Given the snow on the trees they may be covered in snow camo if they touch that off

I would have at least piled up some snow around me for concealment.

Posed. The gun has snow on it so it has been there for a bit. The only member of the gun crew with snow on his helmet is the aimer. Everyone else was probably sitting somewhere sheltered until the combat cameraman suggested taking their picture.

It looks like such a pretty scene but one that can become very deadly in a heart beat. The gun looks like a 57mm Antitank gun which I believe was copied from the Britishicon 3pdr. I think only a side or rear hit could take out a Panther or tiger.

Would have been a dandy bit of a ruse to fell some logs and herring bone a couple of dummy guns along the road to distract and confuse the first tanker past that road.

Looking at the recoil spades on the A/T gun the ground is that hard I guess they will not dig in so the gun aimer is at risk I suppose getting run over by the gun in recoil!

There IS evergreen branches in the front of the gun if you look. He's not just wide open...the spare guys, who knows? How effective? Depends on what shows up.

Desparate times calls for desparate measures. So, a crappy anti-tank gun in a not so good position beats no anti-tank gun anywhere.
