I came across a M47C 4 MK1 ser#34242 TR 1944,all numbers match,what did I find? Still trying to figure out all the stamps, ie BNP, any help would be very helpful.
Sounds like you have a rifle that was found sufficiently accurate to be converted to No.4(T) status and was marked with the "TR" on the butt socket to indicate that.
Some rifles with this marking were either not required for conversion or else rejected due to some other defect, as ennumerated in Ye Little Green Book mentioned above.
