So I ended up ordering a M48A from Allan's Armoury...

Wood is in VG (Closer to VG) to VG+ condition. Stain darker in some areas. Metal finish 98%, smooth and clean. Stamped matching numbers on the receiver, bolt, floor plate, and stock. Has cleaning rod and front sight hood. Bore has VG to VG+ lands, grooves have mirror shine.

...I understand the only difference between the M48 and the M48A is the 48A has a stamped floorplate. I dont imagine that alone will effect the function or accuracy of the rifle. I'm Looking forward to getting my hands on it. I'll have to wait until the beginning of the year till I get down to Texas as I'm in the middle of a PCS move.

Pics of the rifle I ordered...

You could have paid $50-$100 more than he was asking had you purchased it earlier this year from some of the bigger dealers, so I think you did well. Liberty Tree Collectors is one option for the proper sling and ammo pouches. I don't know if the standard K98icon stripper clips will work. Good job, sir.

In Canadaicon, we did have a great supply of M48, M48A, M48BO, M24/47 some years back, but they have been all gobbled up from the dealers. Nowadays, the best way is to scoop one from one of the equipment exchanges on the gun forums. I see some nice ones for sale from time to time on CanadianGunNutz or CGN. I see the odd one at gun shows here in Sask or Manitoba, but not many.

I have never seen a Mitchell's Mauser up here. They do look nice and would likely make a good shooter, but the absolute BS that shows up in their ads is disgusting. They make it sound like these rifles came out of a crate from under Hitler's bed. I don't recall the prices, but they are likely as outlandish as the ads.
If there ain't a gun range in heaven, then I'm going to hell.

You pretty much nailed it on the head. Nothing wrong with the rifles, it's all the marketing and the price that goes with it.
