Cinders,
I did the same due diligence (learning the art of detecting BS) as a result of your interesting thread. Got exactly the same message this morning. You beat me to responding. SO, we are clear that there's no serial no, and the scope has been 'cleaned' so it is of interest as to its provenance.
Trying to save Service history, one rifle at a time...

Yes just why would you clean it to within an inch of its life I have tried to look at the pics you get the broad arrow but the other stuff it is just not quite clear enough anyway we will see if it surfaces with some one requesting is there anyone here who can repair them.

I often think you should have to have a license to buy sandpaper, steel wool and scotch-bright pads, not firearms. So many fine examples have been ruined by the uninformed. Once I found my Holy Grail, a Winchester 92 in 32-20, first year of production, nice brown patina, with wood standing proud of the metal. When I arrived I found out that grandpa decided to spiff it up a bit with a vigorous sanding to the rifle with some 80 grit to do me a favour by cleaning it up. I damn near broke out in tears.

Its the same scope at least he/they are using the same pics will drop them another e mail and see what gives be very suspicious that one has not 1 but 2 sniper scopes from the same day in 1944 heirlooms or not.
I sent this message similar to what I asked before but made no mention of their previous sale will see what gives and if not happy will get the fleabay police onto them to see if their is any impropriety as they have not mentioned anything about the previous sale falling through I.E Re-listed item.

Does the scope have a serial No. on it or makers stamping so the scope can be traced via a military forum that offers such a service.
It helps with records of WWII sniper rifles.
Thanks for your time.
