Sounds right, we had a thread here some years back and discussed things and this pic came up. What a senseless way to die. Unutterably shabby...too bad.

Yes...still very sad and unnecessary. Another friendly fire issue that can't be resolved. No matter how many years in prison or how many demotions...the men are still in the bag. I always hated that.

Accident description - The C-7 (62-4161) Caribou transport plane was approaching the special forces camp at Duc Pho when it flew into line of fire from a U.S. Army 155mm howitzer. The tail section separated and the airplane fell down.

Corrections to my somewhat faulty memory noted. Duc Pho and not Lai Khe, 155 mm and not 105 mm. It was 1967.
