Broken tip M-1 Garand safeties sales and marketing.

I dusted off one of my Garands and took it out shooting and loaned it to a lady to shoot. Showed her the precautions and when I showed her how to work the SAFETY I was dismayed that it did not engage.
So off to eBay to get a replacement. My first bids were about $10, but then I spotted a pile of 10 safeties for about $10, plus shipping. I jumped on that one but when they arrived, EVERYONE HAD A BROKEN TIP!!

Now it's not a matter of jumping to conclusions or not viewing photos or reading the description of the auction that is my problem, but the FALSE narrative of marketing the safeties. Here is the common theme:

"these safeties are NOT really broken from use, they were MODIFIED by GI's in the field as it was found that by removing the tip the safety would engage and disengage quietly. So if you find your trigger group has a tip broken off....leave it! The last user was a combat soldier!!

Field modified Unmarked M1icon Garand Springfield Safeties. These were appropriate for WWII SA M1 Garands mid to late WWII, post-war rebuilds and into the 4.2 mil range of post-war production. Several available so select quantity desired when adding to cart. Note the production variance in finish colors, all are original and have NOT been through refinishing, just need a good wiping off."

oops: My title reads Trigger, but I mean Safety....it seems I cannot edit the thread title.

Now, first of all, I am of the STRONG opinion that this is pure BUNK....another word is probably forbidden on this forum. What say You??
