Minimum Case Length?

Fact: short 7x57 cases in the Boer war. More than one short length known. No further facts. Ammunition in the Boer republics were imported before the war started, as British blockade prevented any resupply even through friendly ports. Speculation of the source of the short cases has led nowhere.

Any facts about the company making that ammunition would be highly appreciated.

That would cause some confusion to amature archaeologists when they find cases and try to figure out what they were...

There has been some speculation and research done some years ago, inconclusive, that is why manufacturer facts would help a lot in starting up again.

Amadeus, a slightly short neck will NOT blow up your rifle. The only damage that may occur is some discoloration and in extreme cases erosion at the end of the case on the chamber walls; that after many rounds fired, not a couple.

If your cases - doesn't sound like your instance - are short and do not headspace properly, one runs the risk of head separation.

The length of the neck has nothing to do with headspace . A 8mm case headspaces off of the shoulder .

It did not look like you were agreeing . It looks like you are correcting me by saying an 8mm can also headspace by the rim [ 8mm Lebel ] and by the belt [ 8mm Magnum ] , when the post was about 8mm Mauser - 8x57 , 7.92 mm .
