Congratulations! Unless you paid a small fortune for it you really landed on your feet there. More views of the side of the receiver would be nice, but even with what you've posted, she's the real deal. Wood looks to have been refurbed at some point, & possibly (some of) the metalwork. I suspect the cheekpiece may also be a replacement, as it looks a little 'tall'. But even so, she's looks genuine enough to me, & still bears a waisted foresight protector. Is there a little ordnance inspector's mark on the flat area to the side of the spigot on the front body pad (mount base)?

I paid 200 for it and 150 for the SMLE no upper forearm on the SMLE, the rifling looks great, lower stock serial number matches the gun, were the uppers numbered ? I do not see any marking forward of the front scope pad just england on the top of the receiver.

The front mount base on the Trials rifles were generally stamped with an Enfield examiner's mark on one or other of the top flats either side of the central boss or spigot. If you can get any pics close up fo the front base from the top we should be getting a look at the right area.

You stole it by the way. Even with a few bits swapped around it's still worth much more than you paid for it.

Not only is it a No4 Enfield sniper's rifle, it is one of the rarer variants of this type. The vast majority were set up on rifles made by BSA (Birmingham Small Arms), in a factory near the city of the same name.
