And also, I hope this guy is not using a reproduction extractor and is using a usgi extractor because there is no comparison.this is a reproduction extractor that lasted a whopping 9 rounds before it failed. If I were a betting man, where the guy in the video looks young, I bet the first thing he did was put an extra power recoil spring in his carbine and those do nothing but cause problems. I have never tried one but I have read thousands of times where people do and very rarely have good results with them. These carbines have been running for over 70 years without extra power springs, so I don't know why anyone would think they need them today

As a young guy who has done that...I'll agree they're crap. Took the old one with me to the range and changed it out after the first few short strokes. Total waste of time.

It wasn't until I went to a full screen view to see the rear sight setting after Jim mentioned it that I seen the plates. I believe I heard them ping a couple times.
But my hearing isn't up to par after years in the trades.
Worst.... stupidest thing I ever did was sneak up on a ground hog in one of the horse stalls that was between the inner stall wall and outer wall. I leaned over the inner wall looking at him from behind with his head up looking in to the stall. Took my .357 and shot him in the back of the head. The report instantly put me to my knees. Absolute True physical pain...... like I would have never imagined.
One of those.... Glad no one was around to see that dumb A$$ move. Now when I say 'Huh' to something the wife says and she complains I need to get my hearing checked, I just tell her she mumbles.

I think of that 'barn shot' when reading about the bombing in WWI and WWII that the troops would have to go through. Just the shear number of rounds being lofted or dropped was so staggering.

I worked on a Mosin with a sticky chamber for a friend.
Thought I'd fire it "just once" to see what it felt like opening the bolt. Fired that M44 from the hip and it was an immediate, intense ringing.
"Just once" was got-dang right.
Can't imagine what it wouldd've been like during/after a real fire fight.

My monitor barely shows the swinging targets he's hitting but he was doing good with the Carbine. Loudest thing I've fired was an AK with muzzle brake. It was loud with ear plugs.

I did the same sort of thing once, took a very close shot at a deer from a truck. I was in the army and out in the training area in the '80s...stopped and pulled a Colt Detective .38 spl. The cylinder gap was inside the cab and when I fired it about crippled me... The deer all loped off.

As for ringing, Try an AK 74 with surplus ammo!

Add a muzzle brake and reassess for increased amplification.

I have never noticed that my AK is louder with a muzzle brake. It would make sense though since some of the vents on the brake are pointed back in the direction of the shooter somewhat to counteract the recoil forces. I have the meridian defense bd2 brake on my slr-107r . AK variants are indeed loud even with earplugs. Next time I take her to the range, I'm going to take a few shots with and without the break. I don't know about sound differences, but the brake sure does help with follow-up shots on the AK platform. My AK is a totally different animal without a brake

The terrain could have been contributing too. Where we shot that configuration was against a ridge with houses behind us. Haven't shot them anywhere else.
